I can't believe I used to drink Diet Coke, count calories and eat fat-free processed crap (AKA kryptonite). Yet I was a good 20 pounds heavier, was always exhausted, had migraines and acne all the time, and in general felt like crap. Hard to believe! Of course docs prescribed meds for acne, migraines and depression, etc. When all I really needed was to chill out and JERF (just eat real food)! I wonder if I had treated myself with more self-care in my 20's would I have even gotten Hashimoto's thyroiditis? What would have happened if when I was diagnosed with Lyme, I had rested, taken probiotics and eat an anti-inflammatory super food diet instead of pushing through and trying to survive on caffeine and sugar during 6 months of antibiotics?! If I had only known then what I know now. Life is so much easier when you listen to your body, practice self-care and just chill out. This is why I wrote my book. To share what I learned on my healing journey. A warrior knows he can't protect or help anyone else unless he protects himself first. Ultimately my story is about self-care, balance and resilience. It's the delicate balance between willpower and chillpower (doing hard things vs doing easy things) to Find Our Flexible Warrior!

About the Author
Karen Dubs is a registered yoga teacher, a certified Pilates and Spinning instructor, a personal stretcher and a health coach specializing in flexibility, balance and recovery. She produced the Flexible Warrior Athletic Yoga DVD series with Spinervals and has taught yoga and stretching multiple seasons for The Baltimore Ravens football team and the University of Maryland Terrapins men’s basketball team, in addition to private and group sessions for runners, triathletes, golfers, lacrosse and soccer players. Karen helped Olympic Pentathlete Suzanne Stettinius stay recovered and flexible while training for five sports leading up to the 2012 London Olympic games. Karen enjoys teaching fundraiser yoga classes for her favorite charity organizations, Believe Big, Knights of Heroes and Back On My Feet. She also loves teaching Flexibility for Warriors sessions at Charm City Run in Baltimore and doing private recovery, stretch and mash sessions with athletes of all levels and sports. Karen lives near Baltimore, Maryland with her husband, Jon, and their rescue pup Stella.
